ROUND 9
THE DOWNFALL OF OG PURPLE
Is the title overdramatic? Yes. Are the OG Purple players totally screwed without a shot at winning? No, not necessarily, but they're definitely crafting a tricky spot. Some of the OG Purple players have fallen into the trap of playing too cautiously at the expense of their jury management. Marissa and Zaid in particular have become the poster children for this. They have played so cautiously trying to cover themselves on all sides and protect themselves from idol plays that they have royally pissed off the two players on the jury and Abby who will very likely become a juror soon. Everyone assumed Lee would be a very toxic juror, but he hasn't actually been that bad. Him and Brenden have had a lot of discussions and they've been pretty fair. Both Marissa and Zaid did those two dirty by lying about the Brenden vote, so they both feel very burned and see how the votes benefitted them, but benefitted others just as much if not more. They have been very vocal about not wanting to see Zaid or Marissa win over the other players in the game and if Abby joins them tonight she will join in on that rhetoric. A lot of this has to do with Marissa and Zaid not owning their moves in the game or still giving these players hope when really they never had intentions of working with them. With even Marissa telling Lee up until the vote she would consider voting Juju. These two have played a great strategic game, but are seriously lacking on social and jury management with jurors feeling so negative about them.
On the topic of Carson, perception of him in the game to a lot of players is he's just there. He gets some flack on the jury from Brenden for just outright ignoring him, but on top of that he isn't really doing anything proactive, and it doesn't help that Zaid has done a good job of talking Carson's game down as a ploy to eventually get him voted out. But yeah, Carson is just kind of there right now and the jury has taken note. While other's see their game on the rise, or some on the decline, Carson has kind of plateaued in the middle.
THE RISE OF THE MOR PLAYER
Coming into this merge I think the players seen as the "big names" from each side were Abby, Zaid, Marissa and Roy. I feel like stock has plummeted for Abby, Marissa and Zaid based on their games. Roy is still very much a big name, but in the sense that he is so seen as a threat he has easily the hardest path to making the Finals of the players left besides Abby. As some of these players have seen their game decline, players like Danielle, Juju and Louise have all skyrocketed with their winning potential. Danielle, albeit in a very precarious situation right now, was just seen as this UTR player, but this round she has stepped up her game and I think it has a lot of people shook. A lot of people likely wrote her off as a non-factor, but she's here to play and trying to make a move against Marissa to save Abby. The best thing about this move is even if it doesn't work, this will earn her major brownie points with Abby and the jurors that she tried to make something happen. Juju and Louise on the other hand have gone from being in the middle of the pack to honestly running the game. They are the current decision makers and honestly are in the position Marissa/Zaid should have been in, these do just have the nerve that those two were missing in the game. Juju/Louise aren't worrying about pissing people off, they are looking at who needs to go so they can win and want to secure their path to the end. They are without a doubt playing the best game at the moment and are being very underestimated by a lot of players in the game.
I'm very excited to see how the games of these players continue to change and two rounds from now if the upward/downward trajectories continue or if there's a whole new dynamic!
