First off, HI VIEWERS FROM UTOPIA, love you guys! Buckle up for my MLA essay posts.
Second, my tribemates are sweeties but the anxious newbie energy on the Ealing tribe is STRONG. We had the customary night 1 tribe call but after about an hour the talking stopped and people were visibly typing, and we began sitting there in mostly-silence. I was trying to be present and save the messaging for later, but I guess you have to match the energy of the people around you...Still, sitting on a nearly-3-hour call in awkward silence (everyone eventually went off camera too...) had me wanting to be like, “Well if everyone is gonna message and not speak I’m gonna get off call,” LOL.
A rundown of my tribe:
Leanna -- I know her from the community (Love Game, different seasons of Havoc, a mini). We’re the only two women and only two ORG “vets” on this tribe (our tribemates noticed all the cast reveal comments we were getting), so looking ahead I think it would be in our best interest to stick together. We’d need each other as shields IMO, but I’m not sure she feels the same way.
Ethan -- I’m getting crackhead vibes. He was typing on camera a lot during the tribe call and I know it was game-related because I got a message from him at one point. He has the most “try-hard”/gamebot vibe of the newbies and if I found myself in trouble I think I’d try to push it onto him, just as a gut reaction. Best believe I’m already scenario planning! lol
Zaid -- He knows Juliana from Northeastern I believe, and I hope she doesn’t poison the well by telling him about my gameplay. I hope it can somehow be a common ground for us to connect on, but I’m getting crackhead vibes from him too. After the night 1 call he messaged me “I got good vibes from you” which is a generic message that he probably copy-pasted to everyone so I’m not holding my breath.
Carson -- Seems friendly and social and fun!
Manik -- He seems friendly, a *little* bit on the quieter side like me so I could potentially work with him but I have to talk to him more.
The beneficial thing about being a (semi) newbie in my last game is that I *know* how some newbies think. In my last game I teamed up with the other newbies/women (who were in the minority) to go after the two vets on the tribe, who were pegged as a duo. I think the same thing but reversed could potentially happen here, with me and Leanna being pegged as a duo just because we’re both “vets”/women and the crackhead newbie men linking up. I can’t be so naive as to not consider that they might team up based on their newbie status; I’ve done the same thing before to create a sense of security.
I’m trying not to be paranoid, just trying to think ahead and put myself in their anxious shoes and prepare for the worst. As soon as the idol board opens I’m gonna be on the hunt for that thing. A tribe of six doesn’t leave a lot of room to hide. I’ve been trying to find things to connect with people over -- I can share my obsession with Star Wars prequel memes with Zaid (YES); Ethan is from the Chicago area; Carson is obsessed with TikTok; Leanna and I have some overlap in the ORG community. I hope I can navigate this tribe dynamic.
